Abstract

This study aims to support continuous creation activities of distributed brainstorming. We proposed a distributed brainstorming support tool with gamification elements. Five functions : “Feedback of ideation”, “Getting an avatar”, “Changing an avatar”, “Competition with other players”, “Picture book of avatar” were proposed and implemented. The brainstorming experiments with the proposed functions were carried out and examined the intrinsic motivation by the order of using tools, with the proposed functions and without those. Then, continuous brainstorming with the proposed functions was carried out for nine days, and we investigated the influence of intrinsic motivation on idea creation. The results confirmed that the proposed function increased quantity, fluency and originality of idea in the comparative experiments between with the proposed functions and without those. It also showed that idea continues to be created until the fifth day on the same theme in continuous brainstorming experiment with the proposed functions.
