Abstract

This study is to propose a group learning type workshop method to enhance subjective well-being of the adolescences admitted to childcare facilities, based upon previous studies about subjective well-being by Seligman, Boniwell, Maeno and others, and then to prove quantitatively and qualitatively its efficacy. A group learning type workshop method is composed by two works; one work for self-acceptance and another for connection and appreciation. The authors conduct the workshop for groups of admitted adolescences and prove the efficacy of the proposed method to enhance their subjective well-being, quantitatively by the survey of the Satisfaction with Life Scale and qualitatively by semi-structured interviews to those adolescences. As a result, this study explores the potential to apply a group learning type workshop method to enhance subjective well-being of the adolescences admitted to childcare facilities as one method to support the independence of those adolescences after graduation from the facilities.
