Abstract
A smart structure has many functions including monitoring, repairing, control, shape formation, and learning. Recently, interest in applying monitoring systems to structures for quality assurance and for evaluating seismic risk has been strong. Monitoring systems is useful to estimate the structural integrity. This system includes from damage identification to diagnosis, repair and reinforcement. In this paper, we focus on damage identification. This strategy is to identify the damage at story level by using neural networks method. To validate this strategy, we experiment on the experimental 5-story structure. As a result, it is pointed out that there are some possibilities to confirm our proposal damage identification.
