This study proposes the sustainable utilization of natural environmental resources for reconstruction after the Great East Japan Earthquake mainly in the Tohoku region, focusing on industrial regeneration and the energy problem, and considering Japanese people's awareness of the natural environment. In the damaged areas, which were already suffering from the serious inherent regional economic and social problems that accompany population decrease and aging, it is necessary to adopt reconstruction based on a regional revival plan including solutions to the above-mentioned serious regional problems. In addition, the damaged areas extend over a wide area and the situation and degree vary considerably according to each area, which makes reconstruction difficult. Since each damaged area has its own natural environmental resources, it is essential to examine their utilization sufficiently in consideration of the regional situation when promoting reconstruction after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
