The definition of diversity is to improve the productivity of an organization by employing people with various backgrounds such as race, ethnicity, gender, education, and age. From the exploration and production of oil and gas to the distribution of petroleum-based products to people around the world, the oil and gas industry is indeed global and multidisciplinary. Diverse opinions, ideas, and perspectives are what drives innovation throughout activities in the industry. This leads us to believe that diversity should have a critical role and can be a key to success in the oil and gas industry. However, it usually takes quite long time for people to understand what diversity really means and its benefits. Developing a work environment for all employees that is welcoming, respectful and engaging, the company's commitment leadership to diversity are very important. Once the diversity is understood and accepted in the organization, the team can accomplish a bigger goal than it was without diversity. This presentation discusses importance and benefits of diversity experienced during studying abroad and working in the service company and major oil company.
