The Malay reserve land system was created in 1913 by the British colonial government so as to protect the land ownership of Malay people from land contests and land sales caused by introducing the land law to promote land development on the Malay Peninsula. This system has been used until today and lands designated as Malay Reservation have been prohibited from transfering, leasing and setting up charge to non-Malays. The development of Malay reserve areas has been delayed. This study considers the future system design concerning the Malay reserve land.
