Just like fintech in finance, proptech has become a buzzword in the real estate industry. Fueled by the rise of new technologies, proptech entrepreneurs are emerging in Japan as well. In particular, as part of proptech wave, real estate crowdfunding is reshaping real estate finance and investments. How much of an impact will the real estate crowdfunding have on the traditionally conservative industry? How much do we need to prepare for it? Drawing from the value that technology brings to the real estate industry, this paper will introduce the impact of proptech, real estate crowdfunding, and alternative finance market.
