The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the psychological competitive ability and psychological well-being of top athletes with disabilities. Participants were 103 top athletes with disabilities (mean age: 33.6±10.01 years; mean competitive years: 12.3±6.97 years). The participants competed in various world games, including the Paralympic Games. The athletes completed the Diagnostic Inventory of Psychological Competitive Ability for athletes (DIPCA) and the Psychological Well-Being scale (PWB). In order to examine the relationship between the DIPCA and the PWB, we performed a correlation analysis and a multiple regression analysis. The correlation analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between the DIPCA and the PWB. In addition, multiple regression analysis confirmed the positive effect of the PWB on the DIPCA. In this study, the DIPCA’s effect on the PWB enabled us to find a relationship between the psychological variables that are important to the athletes. To further this research, future studies must use basic data to construct a cause-and-effect relationship model.
