We determined the changes of plasma nitric oxide(NOx)levels during exposure of acute
hypobaric hypoxic condition. The plasma NOx concentration was measured in rat exposed hypobaric
hypoxic condition (as altitude levels of 2500m, 4000m, and 5500m) during 7 days. We also measured
the blood pressure and the levels of blood lactic acid. The levels of NOx decreased immediately after
the exposure at altitude levels of 4000m. In altitude levels of 2500 m, on the other hand, the levels of
NOx did not differ significantly.
As described earlier in numerous studies, the changes of NOx concentration in this study could be
also regarded as a result of adaptation to acute hypobaric hypoxic condition.
