Abstract
Many music festivals are held in Europe every summer season, including some opera festivals. This thesis relates to the management of the three large opera festivals held in German-speaking area; Salzbruger Festspiele, Munchner Opernfestspiele, and Bregenzer Festspiele. Through the analysis of the management of these large opera festivals, this thesis also tries to clarify how the performing arts policy and tourism policy work together in these opera festivals.
