The purpose of this paper is to consider an instructive role of the system of linear equations in linear theory. In this paper, the subject is discussed from two points of view: the method of elimination and the representation. The results of consideration are summarized as follows: (1) The method of Gaussian elimination is useful for having a view of the canonical form of matrix. When it is teached with respect to a computer, it is desired that the computational error is treated. (2) The following representation combines a linear equation with an equation of vectors, and it motivates the learning of some basic properties of vectors like linear independence etc.: [numerical formula] Furthermore, this representation is useful to lead the concept of n-dimensional vectors.
