Abstract
Manufacturers are urged to shorten new product development cycle and improve qualtity of products to survive in the ever changing and competitive markets. Simultaneous engineering or concurrent engineering is one of important approaches for them to attain the goal. CAD and other ITs are important tools to realize SE/CE. We study the relationship, contribution of CAD and other ITs to SE/CE and the performance with the data collected by our questionair survey to Japanese manufacturers. Our data prove the impact and suggests some other relationships.
