Riding the Business Process Outsourcing Wave: Factors for Successful BPOs and the Role & Utility of Information Systems in Building & Managing a Competitive BPO model

Developing countries with exceptional educational systems and highly skilled workforces like India and Sri Lanka are attracting BPOs at a regular rate since year 2000. A major enabling factor for a successful BPO business is the underlying Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The global market for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services is estimated to be around USD 11.5 billion and is expected to grow tenfold to around USD 120 - 150 billion in the near future.India is already one of the world’s largest players in the BPO market and accounts for 46% of the global market (source: ICT Agency, Sri Lanka). Further, the WNS Sri Lanka was recognized as one of the top three employers by CIMA Global at the recent CIMA Financial Management Awards ceremony held in London. (Contd..)
