Current Situation and Issues on Local Municipalities' Residents Related Information System

Abstract

The vulnerability of Japan's Family Register and Basic Residents'
Register has become evident with the East Japan Earthquake despite their close association with local residents. In this study we will attempt to reveal how information system related to residents are operated by population size and region based on a survey conducted in 2011 targeting 1,747 municipalities, and Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Survey on the Status of Administrative Informatization in Local municipalities".
