The Role of the Intangibles as a Factor to Increase the Effectiveness of IT Investment

- An Analysis based on Questionnaire Survey -

Abstract

We empirically investigate the influence of the intangibles on IT investment benefits, using the data of the questionnaire survey on 400 companies in Kansai region. Most previous studies so far analyzed the impacts of increasing IT investment on company productivity, but its influence is thought to differ, depending on the level of the intangibles, which is specific to each company. Therefore, in this paper, using the data of the questionnaire survey inquiring about the intangibles such as different leadership and the IT talent for each company, we analyzed the impact of those intangibles on the IT investment benefits, according to the company size and the type of IT investment benefits.
