Abstract
International competition in the pharmaceutical industry is becoming more intense, and Japanese companies are required to become more competitive than ever before. In order to maintain a high level of competitiveness, it is necessary to improve efficiency further, and the utilization of IT is an important means of achieving this. There are many different opinions on the impact of IT investment on enterprise productivity, but IT investment in Japan has not sufficiently realized the expected effects. In this study, we analyzed the impact of previous IT investments on industry productivity and examined the impact of IT investments on competitiveness through economic measures as an indicator of enterprise competitiveness.
