Abstract
Organic EL appeared as a disruptive technology invading liquid crystal display. Currently, Korean LG display and Samsung Electronics are leading the world organic EL display business. Is there a possibility of revival for Japan? One possibility is a third generation organic EL material (TADF: Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence) developed by Professor Adachi, Kyushu University. TADF's research were adopted by FIRST of the Cabinet Office and ERATO of JST. As results, potential of cost reduction, high brightness and emission spectral design are shown. As an exit strategy, venture Kyulux was founded. t Apple announced adoption of organic EL and the situation has changed. Japanese VC, Samsung and LG also invested. The collaborations have established to promote practical use, and the results are expected.
