Low labor productivity in Japan casts a dark shadow over the future without an adequate workforce. The use of information technologies (IT) has been noted to improve low labor productivity, and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) had conducted a survey on the use of IT by Japanese companies since 2000. Although this survey was completed in 2017 as having fulfilled certain roles, issues related to IT investment and use of IT have remained unresolved since then. In this study, a survey based on the METI's one was conducted. The results show that, particularly noteworthy, the overall trend is a lack of IT implementation as a base for business collaboration in Japan.
