Reducing Sense of Alienation of Remote Participants in Hybrid Work Meetings by Adopting Space Sharing Tool

Abstract

In hybrid work meetings, it is difficult for remote participants to join the conversation and they often feel sense of alienation. In this study, we verify whether the alienation of remote participants can be reduced by sharing images of the whole space, including their life-size figures of participants. We conducted comparison between zoom condition and tonari, a spatial sharing tool, condition. Result indicated remote participants could start talking easily in spatial sharing tool condition and it prevent the exclusion of remote participants.
