Abstract

A large number of theories and methods have been developed to facilitate organizational development (OD),which could be divided into three aspects: structural, technological, and human. In Japan,OD has been introduced and deployed with a focus on the first two,and the human aspect has not been prioritized. Therefore,we tried to develop an OD methodology based on human-centered design and community of practice, which was taken in the human aspect. The methodology was applied to a company, and then in this paper,we described its intervention process and qualitative analysis. The results showed that the cycled programs of community learning and designing practice successfully developed ordinary employees into key players in OD and that these players became nurturing conduits and cultivated an organizational culture that fostered positive experiences.
