Correspondence of Hyogo Prefectural Government about Highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak

Abstract

Highly pathogenic avian influenza(virus subtype H5N1) breaked out affecting one layer farm in Tanba-cho, Funai-gun, Kyoto prefecture on February 27, 2004 (Successively outbreak in same town on March 5, 2004). Moreover, infection of virus of the same subtype was confirmed about useless laying hens that were shipped to the meat-bird preparation house in Hyogo prefecture from the above-mentioned farm. "Hyogo prefectural government correspondence headquarters for Highly pathogenic avian influenza" was started immediately which make a governor the director-general on February 27, 2004. We made an effort to prevention of infection expansion to another farms with prevention-of-epidemics measure , for example movement control of laying hens meat birds eggs etc., that was being applied to the farms within a 30km radius zone around the affected farm in Kyoto prefecture and we strove for safety and security of the people of the prefecture.
