Abstract

This survey aimed to grasp and organize the actual state of regenerative medicine in order to systematize regenerative medicine nursing. Using the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare website "Information on Institutions Providing Regenerative Medicine, etc. (Treatment)," specific details of regenerative medicine Type 1 to Type 3 plans were classified based on pathophysiology systems, and descriptive statistics were conducted (as of July, 2023). As a result, 5,258 facilities nationwide (with duplications) submitted notifications, with Tokyo having the highest number of notifications (1752 cases, 33.3%) (1 case of Type 1, 608 cases of Type 2, and 1143 cases of Type 3). By category, there were 7 cases of Type 1, 1,416 cases of Type 2, and 3,835 cases of Type 3. The first category was all allogeneic islet transplantation for insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. And in the second category, 692 (48.9%) were for treatments related to joints and other musculoskeletal organs. The third type was treatment related to dental and oral diseases in 1,647 cases (42.9%). It became clear that regenerative medicine is being performed in familiar medical departments, indicating the issue of how nursing can participate in this field in the future.
