A simple formula of across-wind response of tall buildings with circular Tuned Liquid Damper (TLD) has been derived. The formula is based on the spectral modal method using the normalized power spectrum of generalised wind force. TLD-structure interaction system is described as the 2DOF system in which the linearized TMD analogy model is used for TLD and the dominant mode of the tall buildings is employed. The formula derived were examined by comparisons with the data obtained from the full-scale measurements of the actual structures and the validity of the proposed formula was confirmed. The formula can also make clear the relationship between the efficiency of TLD and the tuning parameters of TLD as a dynamic damper.
