Abstract

Probability density distribution of the squares of hydrogen 1s − 6 h atomic orbitals was sculptured in a glass block (Figure 1 (a), 2 (a)). It was compared with 3-D isosurface model such as Figure 3 (b). Isosurface models can hardly show the entire region where an electron can be found. On the other hand, in the diagram of probability density distribution models, an electron is found everywhere around the nucleus. Number and shape of the planar and conical nodes symmetrical about z axis are summarized in Figure 1 (b). Similarly, information about the planar nodes containing z axis is summarized in Figure 2 (b).
