Remote islands are more susceptible to output fluctuations because of their increased use of renewable energy systems, introduced due to the small size of their power systems compared to the mainland. At present, NAS batteries are mainly used as a countermeasure against fluctuations. In this study, the application of an electric double-layer capacitor to the short-period fluctuation countermeasure is investigated, and a consideration of the short-period fluctuation countermeasure is reported when the output control of a NAS battery and an internal combustion power generator are combined.
