Abstract
Geo-cell is one of the geo-synthetics materials used to reinforce soil structures. Recently, soil slopes reinforced by geo-cell have been gradually constructed in Japan. Its complex mechanical behavior is not so clear for us, because it is composite structure composed of polyethylene cells and soils. Therefore we use the macadam as the material inside the cells in consideration of safety. In this study, in consideration of environments and costs of constructions, we perform some experiments to demonstrate the mechanical characteristics of geocell-reinforced soil slopes, which use surplus soils as the materials into the cells. Our main purpose is investigation of the possibility of valid utilization of surplus soils as inside materials of geocells.
