Recently, important advance in the colon movement has been made by electromyogram (E. M. G.) and balloon kimography method, but these measurements are believed to be not so accurate to indicate the colon movement.
We made a new attempt to determine continuously colonn diameter by mutual inductance, which has been used in measurement of the heart, spleen and kidney dimension.
Mutual inductance apparatus were consisted of two coils, which were made with 800 turns of 100 μ enamel insulated wire, wound on a small shaft, and were 3 mm long and 10 mm outside diameter. The dogs were used for this study.
