Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the color transition of a betacyanin dye-based RSi label that used an extracted-dye from red dragon fruit peels using a solvent soaking method. They were performed to a thin film with different ratios of a dye and a film former(2.5:1.0 and 5.0:1.0 parts). After that, they were tested with differences in temperature and curing time. The results found that the RSi labels revealed an original pink color and it could change to orange-brown which depended on the temperature and time. Moreover, some properties of the RSi label, the rates of color transition and the possible use as a dye for applying in intelligent packaging technology as well as an indicator ink were also reported.
