Almost cases of lumber vertebra fracture-dislocation are frontward, but is rare in backward.
We present a case of a man aged fifty eight, who fell 3 meters to the ground and was imcompletely paralized on the legs. We could recognized a backward dislocation of L2/3 and a burst fracture of L3 vertebral body by an X-ray examinations. We immediately practised hyperextension traction therapy upon him, and it brought about a good reposition after ten days. A dicompression and reconstractive operation was performed after ten weeks due to neurological disorders. After about two years complete recovery was successful. We suggest that hyperextension traction therapy should be a useful treatment for backward fracture-dislocation of the lubmer vertebra.
