This paper deals with the basic function and the basic structure of a simulation package for the design of an oil-hydraulic circuit and analysis of its dynamic characteristics. The design and improvement of an oil-hydraulic circuit take much time because they depend largely on the experience of circuit designers. In order to make them more effective and systematic, it is necessary to investigate the dynamic characteristics of the circuit beforehand by computer simulation. However, it takes much time to derive a mathematical model for the circuit and to construct a simulation program. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a simulation package and to provide an environment where simulation can be easily carried out without deriving the mathematical model for the circuit and constructing a simulation program. As the first step to realize this, it is important and necessary to establish the basic function and the basic structure of such a simulation package. In this paper, the basic function and the basic structure of such a simulation package are discussed. Furthermore, OHC-Sim (Oil-Hydraulic Circuit Simulation), which is the resulting simulation package from the proposed function and structure, is described.
