Aerial photos are well suited for capturing information of canopy size and shape. DSM is appropriate for capturing canopy height. This study intends to monitor canopy changes of time series of beech forest over 25 years. Canopy changes are evaluated from analysis of aerial photos and DSMs. The study site is a permanent plot of beech forest in northern part of Gifu prefecture. The aerial photos were taken in 1983, 1993, 2003, 2008 and DSMs of responded years were developed from aerial photos.
