Proboscis Monkey Research from sky

抄録

Although Proboscis monkey Nasalis larvatus is an endemic and endangered species living in Malaysian Borneo, the exact population is unknown in spite that great effort has been spent for longtime. Since most surveys have been conducted by visual observation, it requires higher skill and wealth of the research experience to find monkeys in a deep tropical forest. To improve the efficiency of the research and shorten the observation time, we introduced drones loading a video camera in our research conducting at Sukau, Malaysian Borneo. We also verified an effectiveness of Infrared camera at night observation.
