The CHAPMAN-MILLER method for the statistical determination of lunar daily variations ∑4n=1cnsin(nt-2ν+λn) in geomagnetic elements is generalized to include a semilunation or fortnightly tide corresponding to a summand n=0 and partial tides corresponding to summands n=-1, -2, -3, -4. Application of the generalized method to 7305 days of data indicates that there are significant partial tides and that the partial tides show enhanced activity during daylight hours. The fortnightly tide is found to be large and irregular.
