A generalized CHAPMAN-MILLER method has been applied to 20 years of hourly mean values of the Toolangi magnetic observatory. The results indicate that there are significant geomagnetic tides associated with the atmospheric tide O1, and that they contribute substantially but spuriously to the seasonal variation of geomagnetic tides associated with the atmospheric tide M2
