Abstract
For the purpose of studying the applicability of an adhesive tape and thread to the apparel manufacture, they were pressed down onto the sample cloths with various pressures using steam iron and a pressing machine, and the shearing strength and the peeling strength of the samples were measured at each processing.
The peeling strength is proportional to the ironing pressure and the regression formulas relating the two have been obtained.
The ironing pressure required for producing the minimum necessary strength was not obtained by a home iron.
The shearing strength is great and the adhesive tape would be able to substitute for hand sewing.
