The health checkup system for Japanese workers is implemented in the category of "health check" including a medical checkup and a cancer screening in some companies. Medical examinations performed in the field of occupational health should be considered as clear and complementary secondary preventive elements for occupational health, because medical surveillance and medical screening should be performed using individual concepts and methods. This paper outlines the legal background of health examinations for workers in East Asian countries (South Korea, the Republic of China (Taiwan), Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and India). Aim of this article is to review the current status of health examinations in these countries.
