Report on the Joint Executive Meeting of the Japanese Society of Hospital General Medicine and the Society of Hospital Medicine

Historically, the Japan Society of Hospital General Medicine (JSHGM) and the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) have collaborated through joint manuscript submissions and conference participation. The executive members of both organizations met during the SHM annual meeting on April 13-15, 2024, in San Diego. They discussed several top- ics including hospitalists in Japan and the US, increasing leadership roles of women hospitalists in the US, co- management systems, task shifting, US hospitalist compensation, and differences in employment methods. Addition- ally, we explored further collaborative opportunities with SHM, such as joint research, publications, and personnel exchanges. This collaboration and the topics we discussed are pivotal for our society’s development and are exciting for JSHGM members.
