Abstract
This study retrospectively investigated the characteristics of inpatients with COVID-19 who were treated in our hospital between January 2021 and June 2022. Comparison of hemodialysis patients and non-dialysis patients with COVID-19 showed that (1) male patients tended to be more frequent in both groups, (2) hemodialysis patients tended to be more severely affected by COVID-19, (3) after the 5th wave, vaccination and various treatment strategies were introduced, the severity of the disease and the mortality rate decreased in both groups. Among clusters, close contact persons who developed the disease were (1) thinner, (2) had higher nursing need, and(3) had a lower serum Alb level and a higher CRP level than those who did not develop the disease. No significant difference in vaccine antibody titer was detected between staff members who had worked in isolation wards and those who had not. The antibody titer was not affected by environmental factors (presence or absence of association with coronavirus-positive patients), suggesting that infection control in the isolation ward at our hospital was appropriate.
