Abstract
Allergy rhinitis is a disease that disturbs the work productivity, as well as the QOL (quality of life), of affected patients. We examined the changes in the perennial allergy rhinitis patients' nasal symptoms and work productivity after two weeks of taking bepotastine besilate by means of a nasal symptom questionnaire and the WPAI-AS (Work Productivity and Activity Impairment- Allergy Specific) questionnaire. We estimated the work productivity based on the WPAI-AS scores. The results showed that three nasal symptoms;rhinorrhea, sneezing and nasal obstruction, were significantly better after treatment. The WPAI-AS mean work efficiency scores showed a tendency to improve. The improvements of nasal symptoms (rhinorrhea, sneezing and nasal obstruction) were correlated with the improvement of the WPAI-AS scores. These findings suggest that bepotastine besilate can improve the nasal symptoms and work productivity of patients with perennial allergy rhinitis.
