A 40-year-old cook developed mild discomfort and swelling in the left half of the tongue one month betore As the mass slowly increased in size despite the administration of antibiotic (Lincomycin), the tongue was partially removed including the mass, in which an abscess was encountered. Histological examination from the wall of the abscess demon-strated the presence of sulfur granules and actinomyces, although the results of bacterial and fungus cultures from pus were negative. The postoperative course was unevenful, and the patient has remained symptom free over one year after operation.
