急性口蓋扁桃膿瘍の一成因について

抄録

The author performed a pathological study of the cysts of the tonsil in chronic tonsillitis and a statistical observation of patients with the so-called peritonsillar abscess in the last 15 years at the Otorhinolaryngological Clinic of Kyushu University.
The following facts were noted in some cases of tonsillitis abscedens (Sasaki).
1) The cysts presented histological pictures of primary infection in the tonsils removed at the acute inflammatory stage of the disease.
2) A temporary improvement was clinically followed by a severe condition in some cases of acute tonsillitis.
3) The epithelial layer of the mucosa was found in part in the wall of the abscess.
4) The abscess was anatomically found in infants and old people with whom the lacuna is simplified.
5) The history of habitual angina was not traceable in some cases of the abscess.
6) The abscess was located at some distance from the bifurcation of the superior tonsillar fossa in some cases.
7) A formation of abscess was found in the cicatrized part several years after an incomplete tonsillectomy in some cases.
From these facts it was deduced that the abscess may be caused by infection and suppuration of the cysts of the tonsil or its acute inflammation.
