Abstract
In an operation, the operator should not adhere too much to shortening the operating time, but he should know how long it will take him to carry out the operation. Actually, there are so many factors affecting the operating time that it is difficult to predict the time of operation.
In the author's opinion, to shorten the operating time is to eliminate the wasted time and to deal with the bleeding properly. Namely, the selection of the operating instruments, operator's mental concentration, hemostasis before the operation, etc. are most important.
The author's average operating time is as follows: Tonsillectomy (one side)1-2 min.
Deviotomy 10-15 min.
Radical operation of sinusitis maxillaris and ethmoidalis (one side) 22 min.
Radical operation of otitis media 30-40 min.
Radical operation of cholesteatomotitis 20-30 min.
