There is no need to stress the importance of pathological autopsy to clarify the diagnosis and to evaluate clinical treatments.
Pathological findings from 61 (50%) cases of the 122 deaths during the period between 1972 and 1978 were studied and summarized in terms of educational discussion. The deaths were attributed to malignant neoplasms in 58 cases, Wegener's granulomatosis in two and aplastic anemia in one.
The results of autopsies are discussed in detail with special attention to the preliminary diagnosis, verification and the direct causes of death.
