Abstract
Otorhinolaryngological Clihic, University of Nagasaki Medical School The author explains a method of anesthesia suitable for the operation of children's cleft-palate: that is, premedication with “Contomine,” basal anesthesia by rectal instillment of “Ravonal” and inhalation of ether, and the protracted anesthesia by the ether inhalation. The author reports his experience in the use of this method with ten cases of patients ranging from two to twelve years in age.
This method is advisable from the following points:
1) The introduction and maintenance of anesthesia is easy.
2) The disturbance of respiration is slight.
3) No excited state, nausea or vomiting develops at the time of introduction or awaking.
4) The apparatuses are very simple.
