For the purpose of hyperalimentation, 18 cases of ENT were fed on an elemental diet (Elental®) by way of the nasal feeding tube. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and sense of abdominal fullness were complained as side effects, but could be improved by decreasing the feeding density and dropping velocity. In cases without side effects, mental and physical charges could be reduced by increasing the dropping velocity. Clinical effects of the diet were satisfactory.
