A 11-year-old male complained of swelling of the cervical lymphnodes without fever and sore throat. On admission the patient exhibited hepatomegaly. On laboratory findings, hepatic dysfunction and 77% mononuclear leucocytes in the circulating bloods were found, although atypical lymphocytes were rare. High titer of EB viral capsid antigen IgG (VCAIgG) and EB early antigen-diffuse, restricted IgG (EA-DRIgG) was noted. EB nuclear antigen (EBNA) antibody and heterophile antibody were negative. The histological investigation of the lymphnode revealed chronic lymphadenopathy, and infectious mononucleosis was diagnosed. The patient recovered in 5 weeks from the onset.
