小児急性化膿性中耳炎に対するCefixime (CFIX) の薬効評価

Multicenter open trial of Cefixime (CFIX) on acute suppurative otitis media was carried out according to the same protocol. The results obtained were as follows. 1.105 children with acute suppurative otitis media entered into the trial and the overall clinical efficacy was evaluated by doctors in charge and the evaluation committee in all and 98 cases, respectively. The bacteriological efficacy was evaluated by the committee in 96 cases. 2. As to the overall clinical efficacy of CFIX, the effectiveness rate were 81.9% in doctor's judgement and 83.7% in committee's judgement. 3. As to the bacteriological response, the eradication rate was 89.6%. S. pyogenes, S. pneumoniae and H. influenzae were all eradicated. 4. There were no side effects or abnormal laboratory findings in any of the patients. 5. The MIC values of CFIX for clinical isolates of S. pyogenes, S. pneumoniae and H. influenzae were lower than those of CCL. These results suggest that CFIX is a useful antibiotic for the treatment of acute suppurative otitis media in children.
