EcochG was recorded in 61 patients of sudden deafness in order to evaluate the prognosis of this disease. Our results showed that there was no significant difference in N1 latency and-SP/AP ratio between the patients with good recovery and those with poor prognosis. It is thus suggested that EcochG alone is insufficient to determine the prognosis of this disease. It appears that the prognosis of sudden deafness needs to be evaluated based on various factors such as period from onset to admission, mean hearing level at admission, hearing pattern, with or without vertigo.
