Three cases of pendulous tonsils where the patient complained of foreign body sensations in the throat were reported. They included the right tonsil of a 57-year-old female, bilateral tonsils of a 64-year-old female, and the left tonsil of a 35-year-old male. Microscopically, the pendulous portions of the tonsils showed the same findings as in simple tonsillitis. All cases had past histories of chronic tonsillitis. The authors considered the etiology of pendulous tonsils to be mainly related to chronic irritation of the local region of the tonsil.
