A 36-year-old female was admitted to our clinic, complaining of a left submandibular tumor which had existed for 4 years. On April 20 1983, an operation was performed under general anesthesia. The tumor was 4.4×3.2×2.0cm in size and 16.4g in weight. The histological examination revealed paraganglioma. Left recurrent laryngeal nerve and hypoglossal nerve palsy appeared after the operation, but no other remarkable neurological deficits were present on the following day. The patient was discharged on July 4 1983, and no metastasis or recurrence have been observed thus far.
